Paris, France: In the autumn of 2019, Chloé's family was counting down to a birth. At 33 years old and six months pregnant, Chloé and her husband were preparing for the arrival of their first child. Her parents were about to become grandparents. Conversations revolved around the baby and the preparations for his arrival.
Instead of focusing solely on the birth ahead, the family suddenly had to face a second reality: Chloé was diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer.
From one day to the next, the family found itself preparing for a birth while navigating a cancer diagnosis. Hospital appointments appeared alongside the excitement about the baby's arrival. While doctors worked to understand the disease, Chloé's loved ones gathered around her. In the middle of that difficult period, family life and preparations for the baby's arrival had to go on.
Throughout the months that followed, the baby's arrival gave everyone something concrete to focus on. Chloé began treatment while still pregnant, but her attention remained fixed on her son.
When he was born healthy in December 2019, it brought a moment of shared relief and happiness for the entire family.
Today, Chloé is cancer-free and the mother of two children. Looking back, she sees her family as the thread that connected life before, during and after treatment. The moments she values most are those she once wondered if she would see: school mornings, family celebrations and watching her children grow up.
